Fans on ChessLecture.com said:I consider myself mainly a 1. c4/Nf3 player as I like to play more hypermodern type positions and I prefer to avoid sharp lines such as the Benko Gambit and Grunfeld defense. Also, I find that playing the off beat line of the English with 1. c4 and 2. b3 will throw off a lot of players and make them uncomfortable very early in the game. I have actually had some good success with 1. c4 and 2. b3 in tournament games.
