The Ruy Lopez also known as The Spanish is a chess opening characterized by the moves:
1. e4 e5
2. Nf3 Nc6
Named for a 16th century bishop Ruy Lopez de Segura. The Ruy Lopez has such a vast number of variations that in the Encyclopedia of Chess Openings (ECO) all codes from C60 to C99 are assigned to them. Here Bryan goes over the variations for White.
